Abstract The far right has launched its own particular crusade against gender-neutral language (GNL). In this article, I examine how the parties Rassemblement National, in France, and Vox, Spain, instrumentalise discursively their opposition to GNL as part of overall political strategy confronting social change. By using a culture war framework, critically analyse connections between polarised representations those other fronts cultural conflict that directs adversary groups. show both have co-opted into wars they pursue on fronts, albeit with significant differences. argue addition idea single struggle based moral differences cleavages, are also be understood interconnected different spheres contention strategically exploits.
